The team

The joanneum racing team from the University of Applied Sciences Graz (FH JOANNEUM) was established in 2003. Every year a new "jr" racer is constructed and built by a team of motivated students. The main purpose is the participation in the international construction competition “Formula Student“.

Also this year eager students decided to cope with the challenge and work on the formula student project. The team members are vehicle engineers as well as enthusiastic students from other degree courses like „ Electronics and technology management “, „ Journalism and public relations “, „ Industrial design “, "Design of information", „ Production technology and organization “ and "Physiotherapy". This cooperation of the students is the road to success and it helps the joanneum racing team to work on a very professional level.

Every year the members of the racing team change, which brings key benefits such as new ideas and new passion. In combination with the know-how of the experienced “Weasels”, the team can achieve sustained successes every year.

Also this year a unique team has formed to build a magnificent racing car, the jr11. The 32 members will give their best and by combining well proven and innovative ideas a benchmark setting race car will be shown at the Roll-out on the 6th May 2011.

The Weasels – Beat the Limits

You may be wondering what “Weasels” in relation to our racing team actually means? This is easy to answer: Weasels are agile, dynamic and they have the features of being aggressive and nocturnal. So these are the reasons, why the members of the joanneum racing team are called the “Weasels”.

Having these mentioned qualities help the team members to complete their tasks effectively because up to the Roll-out of the jr11 on the 6th May 2011 there will be a lot of work and many sleepless nights. The motto of this year is: Beat the limits – at all points!
